How it Works
Starling Lab uses prototypes to solve problems in journalism, law and history. Many of the underlying technologies were popularized recently (decentralization, cryptography, blockchains) but have existed for decades. Instead of developing new technologies, we find new ways to implement proven ones. Starling Lab produces case studies, which explain how we apply our prototypes in the field.
The following prototypes show how Web3 technologies can build trust across our three Labs or practice areas. The software, workflows, and methodologies created by Starling Lab are open source, though many of the tools we use in our prototypes are proprietary. This listing is not an endorsement of particular tools or technologies. Some of these tools have already been deployed in conflict zones, journalistic reporting, and other projects, some are still in the proof-of-concept phase and may not yet be ready for commercial or nonprofit use.
